Determination of Botanical Composition, Pasture Quality Degree and Pasture Status of Different Direction of Savucak Mountain Pastures (Diyarbakır-Çüngüş)

Journal Title: ISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences - Year 2023, Vol 7, Issue 2

Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the botanical compositions, pasture quality degrees and pasture status of the north, south, east and west directions of Savucak mountain pasture in the Çüngüş district of Diyarbakır province in 2021 and 2022. In the two-year vegetation study carried out using the point frame method, 62 plant taxa from 52 genera belonging to 19 families were identified. 7 of these taxa are endemic, and the presence of 38 plant taxa in the South and East directions, 31 in the West direction and 25 in the North direction were determined. When the quality degrees and status of the pastures were examined according to the directions, it was obtained that the West direction was “poor” with 2.22, the North direction was “poor” with 2.18, the East direction was “very poor” with 1.59 and the South direction was “very poor” with 1.51. According to the two-year average values of the directions, the quality of the pasture was 1.88 and the pasture status was determined as "very poor". It has been concluded that improvement studies should be carried out in these pasture areas due to the low quality of pasture and the determination of the pasture conditions as "very poor". In addition to the application of improvement methods such as fertilization and stone collection, grazing within the framework of management rules is also important in terms of local livestock
