Determination of Density and Size of Stoma in Different Periods of Leaves of Different Nodes in Table Grape Varieties
Journal Title: ÇOMÜ Ziraat Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
This research work was conducted in the ‘Application and Research Vineyard of Table Grape Varieties’ situated in the Dardanelles Campus of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, in summer 2015. The purpose of this research work was to determine the width and height of leaf stoma, openness condition of stoma and densities of stoma in ‘Yalova İncisi’, ‘Cardinal’, ‘Yalova Çekirdeksizi’, ‘Amasya Beyazı’, ‘Ata Sarısı’, ‘Italia’, ‘Kozak Beyazı’ and ‘Müşküle’ grape varieties in their vegetation period. Stoma molds were obtained according to the method of mold removal with the help of nail polish. The obtained stoma molds were examined under a 10x40 magnification light microscope aim to determine the density and size of stoma. The stoma width changed from 20.38–18.34 μm, stoma height was 34.20–28.34 μm and the density of stoma was 225.7–142.7 number/mm2 as averages of all periods in varieties. It was determined that the variation has been shown in the width of stomata as 20.65–15.28 μm, height of stomata as 33.69–25.94 μm and density of stomata as 248.7–124.8 number/mm2 in different varieties on the basis of nodes. In general, there was a significant decrease in stoma numbers but, in the meantime, it can be seen clearly that a hypertrophy has been occurred in the dimensions of stoma (width–height) when considering the different periods of grape varieties (1st June, 15 July, 1st September and 15 October).
