Determination of Milk and Dairy Products Consumption Quantity of Consumers in TR22 South Marmara Region

Abstract
Milk is a important product for human nourishment. Milk and dairy products constitutes basic protein source of daily life. Although Turkey takes place in the first ten countries in terms of milk production quantity, quite falls behind developed countries in terms of milk consumption. The aim of this study is to determine milk and diary products consumption level of consumers who live in TR22 South Marmara Region that leads about milk and dairy products production in Turkey. The main material of this study are the surveys which are done face to face with consumers. Data for the study were collected from 166 consumers, determined by means of propositional random sampling. Bacis statictical methods were used to analyze the data. According to the research, the rate of regular milk consumers in every day is 16%. The 85% of consumers prefer only cow milk. Daily milk consumption per capita is determined as 0.136 lt. Compare to developed countries, milk consumption of the consumers in research area stay low.
