Determination of Physico-Chemical parameters of Surface Water Samples in and around Akot City
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2011, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
The physico-chemical parameters of water samples collected from various sites in and around Akot city were assess. The physicochemical parameter like, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), total alkalinity (TA), total hardness (TH), calcium (Ca++) magnesium (Mg++ ), sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), chloride (Cl-), fluoride (F-), nitrate (NO-3) sulphate (SO2-4) and phosphate (PO3-4) was determined. The results were compared with standards prescribed by WHO (1973) and ISI (10500-91). It was found that the water samples collected from various sites in and around akot city was contaminated. All sampling sites showed physicochemical parameters above the water quality standards and the quality of water are very bad and it is unfit for drinking purpose. Whereas the sampling sites S11 and S12 has somewhat good quality water

Status of Heavy Metal Concentration in Water and Sediment of River Ganga at Selected Sites in the Middle Ganga Plain
The Pollution of aquatic ecosystem by heavy metals has assumed serious proportions due to their toxicity and accumulative behavior. This paper deals with the measurement of five heavy metals i.e. Cu, Cr, Zn, Ni, and...
Chromogenic Reagent System for Complexation of Nitrobenzene and its Application to Real Sample
A new sensitive analytical method for the determination of nitrobenzene is proposed. In this method, nitrobenzene is reduced in presence of Zn dust in acidic medium. The reduced nitrobenzene is then oxidized and subs...

Simultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Eosin and Erythrosine in Pharmaceutical and Food samples by using Mean Centering of Ratio Spectra Method
A new micelle-mediated extraction method for ultra-trace quantities of eosin and erythrosine as a prior step to their simultaneous spectrophotometric determination has been developed. The mean centering (MC) of ratio spe...
Kinetic - Catalytic Determination of Trace Cu (II) in Water Samples with Ortho Anisidine–Bromate Reaction
The use of novel indicator reaction as applied to the kinetic determination of Cu (II) in water is investigated. The method relies on the catalytic effect of the analyte on the oxidation of Ortho – Anisidine (OA) by...
