Determination of Public Speaking Anxiety Level of University Students

Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the public speaking anxiety levels of university students. In the study, descriptive survey model, which is one of the quantitative research types, was used. The study group of the research consisted of 181 students who voluntarily answered the scale in the study, studying at Kyrgyzstan Turkey Manas University in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the study, the Public Speaking Anxiety Scale (TÖKKÖ), which was developed by Bartholomay and Houlihan and adapted into Turkish by Çabuker, was used as a data collection tool. According to the research findings, it was determined that the TÖKKS levels of the university students corresponded to the undecided option according to the arithmetic mean. When the differentiation status according to the age variable was examined, a significant difference was found in favor of university students between the ages of 18-20 and students between the ages of 21-23 and 24-26 in the cognitive sub-dimension. According to the department variable, a significant difference was found between the RTS and PDR departments in the cognitive sub-dimension, in favor of RTS, and between the Tourism and Agriculture groups in favor of the Tourism department. A significant difference was found in favor of the children of high school graduate mothers in the cognitive and behavioral sub-dimension according to the mother's education level variable. When the differentiation status of university students according to the number of siblings variable was examined, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in favor of students with 7 or more siblings and university students with 1-3 and 4-6 siblings in the cognitive sub-dimension of the measurement tool.
