The population of the study consisted of 86 midwives and nurses working in the hospital of Firat University Medical Faculty, the Harput Gynecology-Obstetrics and Children’ hospital, Private Anatolian hospital, Private Medical Park hospital located in Elazig city center. The sample of the study consisted of 62 individuals accepting to participate into the study, other 24 rejected to take part. The data of this study were collected using a questionnaire prepared according to the literature. The data were assessed using percentage, frequency calculations and Pearson Chi-square test. Results: 72.6% of the participants, said men could also work as nurses if they are educated, 71% said male nurses could provide good care. However, 71% said the male nurses should work in areas in which male patients are in majority, 74.8% said that male nurses could not work in delivery rooms, 54.8% said male nurses could work only in areas requiring strength and 62.9% said male nurses could not work in delivery services. The approval ratio of the participants working in gynecology clinics for the expression that “male nurses could be a reason for preference due to the absence of procedures such as maternity and breast-feeding leave” was statistically meaningful and high (p=0.022). Participants with professional experience of 11 years or more were found to have a high rate of approval of the 'nursing profession' (p=0.037). Conclusion: The participants stated that the males may perform the nursing profession if they are educated but they think that male nurses cannot work in the delivery room, so male nurses can work in the services in which there are more male patients. It can be offered training on the subject that male nurses can work in each clinic.
