DETERMINING ORAL HEALTH CONDITION AND HABITS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CENTRAL SİVAS

Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine oral health condition and habits of children at the age of primary education and also determine the relation of this with some socioeconomic features. The research is applied to at total 1600 students as 800 girls and 800 boys who still go on Alparslan, Cumhuriyet, Karşıyaka, Özel Mahir Sevim Özduman and Sirer primary schools which are found in the borders of Sivas province centre. The data with the method of sampling at random were collected between the dates of 20 March 2006-31 March 2006. Verilerimiz bilgisayar ortamına aktarıldıktan sonra istatistiksel analizlerinin değerlendirilmesi SPSS 13.0 programında yapılmıştır.. Verilerin analizinde ki-kare testi kullanılmış, p< 0.05 değerleri anlamlı kabul edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin 1050’sinde (%65,6) en az bir diş çürüğü bulunurken, 340’ında (%21,3) diş taşı saptanmıştır. Örneklemimizdeki öğrencilerin 750’sinde (%46,9) diş fırçalama alışkanlığı yok iken, dişlerini düzenli fırçalayanların oranı 171’dir (%10,7).
