DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF RP-HPLC METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF TINIDAZOLE AND CLOTRIMAZOLE IN TABLET DOSAGE FORM

Abstract

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Methods are described for the determination of drugs as s single or in combined formulation. The object of present study was to develope and valide novel, accurate, sensitive, presies, rapid and isocratic Reverse Phase HPLC(RP-HPLC) method for the simultaneous determination of Tinidazole (TINI) and Clotrimazole (CLO) in bulk and combined dosage form. The separation was achived on ENABLE C-18(250mm×4.6 mm, 5µ) with mobile phase consisting of phosphate buffer(PH 2.5)TEA(0.05 %) : Actonitrile (60 : 40 % v/v) at a flow rate 1.5 ml/min. UV detection at 254 nm. TINI and CLO obeyed linearity in the concentration range 50-500 µg/ml (r2 =0.9999) and 20-200 µg/ml (r2 =0.9999) respectively. The asymmetric method can be were found to be 0.74 for TINI 1.09 for CLO. The developed method was validate as per ICH guidelines. It was concluded that the Method can be used for routine analysis of TINI and CLO in combined formulation.
