DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE INDIVIDUALITY OF STUDENTS AT ART AND GRAFIC DEPARTMENTS WHILE TRAINING THEM IN PLEIN AIR PAINTING

Abstract

The thesis is devoted to the complex research of the process of development of creative individuality of art students in the process of training in the open air from the standpoints of Psychology, Pedagogy, Art History, and Composition Theory. It reveals the position that the principles of teaching landscape painting which were used by masters of the past as well as theoretical works of scientists in the fields of colour science, Psychology and Pedagogy of art become an important component in improving students learning methods in the open air under modern conditions. It determined that the skills and knowledge gained in the process of fulfilling learning assignments in the open air, form professional skills and improve the quality of teaching painting in the studio. The aim of the research is to reveal theoretical and methodological fundamentals of plein-air practice and its role in the development process of AGD students’ creative personality (students of Art and Grafic Departments). It is emphasized that while fulfilling classroom work, we carry out the same goals and objectives; though the artist must go beyond the workshop, the development should pass thoroughly. Therefore, there is open-air work in nature. In the open air, there are certain peculiarities of depicting nature and certain difficulties. Methodical tips specifying the work in the open air have been suggested. The role of teaching plein air painting for the development of AGD students’ creative individuality has been highlighted. It is noticed that special attention should be paid to the education of students’ understanding of art culture and, above all, a sense of proportion, teaching techniques of plein air painting obtained from the pedagogical experience of domestic masters of art should be consistent with the features of modern high school; regional peculiarities and cultural-historical status of the area, which have a direct influence on the development of students’ creative individuality, play an essential role; one may use the correlation method for painting in the open air with other subspecialties (chromatics, composition, drawing, art history, artistic country study), which allows us to trace and determine the effectiveness of interaction of these disciplines in order to develop students’ creativity; a set of criteria for artistic evaluation of students’ preparedness enables us to evaluate the result of connecting the natural gift, creativity, theoretical and practical sequence of training students in painting.
