DEVELOPMENT OF METHOD FOR ESTIMATING THE AVERAGE TIME FOR PRODUCTION OF IRON ORE PELLET CONSIGNMENT

Abstract
Purpose. To research the process of pellet production among the number of complex, multi-dimensional technological processes. Despite the fact that the production process is automated, pellet production control systems in modern industries do not allow to provide maximum productivity and constancy of high quality of the original product. In this regard, it is necessary to improve the methods and systems of operational management of the production of iron ore pellets. The development of a method for estimating the average time of production of consignment of iron ore pellets that will help to reduce the time of execution of orders and reduce inventory of materials. Methodology. We have used well-tested positions of the theory of mass service (theory of queues) and theory of constraints. Methods of mathematical modeling and statistical processing of results were also used. Originality. We have proposed a method for estimating the average production time of iron ore pellet consignment. Unlike existing ones this method takes into account unplanned stopping of aggregates, failures in the supply of raw materials, and a number of other factors. Practical value. Analysis of the average time of the production cycle of iron ore pellets shows that the maximum loading of aggregates can lead to unpredictable duration of execution of the processing of batches of pellets. The results of the work can be implemented at enterprises of various industries where the process is of a discrete nature. Results. We have developed the method of estimating the average time of production of a batch of iron ore pellets. This method makes possible reducing of the time of execution of orders and reducing inventory of materials. Also the method helps to prevent the appearance of bottlenecks, to estimate time losses that arise under the influence of perturbing factors and to determine the need to create buffers of materials in front of bottlenecks. Analysis of the average time of the production cycle of iron ore pellets shows that the maximum loading of aggregates can lead to unpredictability of the timing of the processing of batches of pellets.
