Journal Title: Kırıkkale Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi - Kırıkkale University Journal of Social Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 7, Issue 2
Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to develop a valid and reliable scale for measuring motivation approaches used by school administrators during change periods. For this purpose, an item pool with 45 items was prepared based on the literature and was examined by experts. The 36 items form prepared in line with suggestions and opinions was fillied in by 349 teachers working in Uşak province. The construct validity of the scale was tested with exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analysis. As a result of EFA, it was seen that “Motivation Approaches in Change Process Scale” consisting of 25 items has a three-factor structure. In addition to this, it was found that the scale explained 72.23 percent of variance. In item analysis, it was revealed that the values of item-total correlations and item discrimination were high. According to the results of CFA, the three factor structure of the scale has high level of goodness of fit indexes. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients of the factors and the whole scale indicated that the scale is reliable. Based on all these findings, it was concluded that the scale is a valid and reliable tool that can be used to determine the motivation approaches used by school administrators in change process.
