Development of professional teacher’s media competence: German experience

Abstract

The article learns and classifies approaches to professional teacher’s media competence development in Germany. In particular, the typology of views introduced by German researchers to identifying the objectives, levels, criteria and indicators of professional teacher’s media competence development is given. Correlation of such basic research notions as “media literacy”, “teacher’s media competence”, “professional media competence” have been traced. Education policy areas on preparation of media competent teachers in Germany are outlined. We have represented the German experience of interaction with media in educational environment, opportunities for creating and implementing pedagogic scenarios by means of media tools, media materials and knowledge about media. Factors of successful media literacy implementing in modern educational process (academic load, interdisciplinary innovations, considering the specifics of modern media content in the process of working out the academic plans, curricula, etc.) have been defined
