DEVELOPMENT OF SOLID SELF-EMULSIFYING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM: A REVIEW

Journal Title: World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 3

Abstract

Self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS) is one of the most popular and commercially viable formulation approaches to improve solubility of water-insoluble drugs. However, SEDDS are normally prepared as the liquid form that has several limitations. SEDDS is converted into solid self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SSEDDS) by solidification technique, which maintains the advantages of L-SEDDS whilst enhancing storage stability. Thus the aim of this review is to discuss solid carriers, various methods of preparation and the stability of S-SEDDS for providing more options for future drug research.
