DEVELOPMENT OF SYSTEMS OF POSTPOSITIONS IN FORMING NEW MEANINGS IN ENGLISH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract
The problem of speech is one of the most controversial issues of language and because of its extreme complexity it is considered vital to the theory of modern linguistics. Saturation of words with active and multi-directional semantic ualities provokes some difficulties during its study as an independent unit of the language. Therefore, linguists continue searching for the new approaches to the study of complex mechanisms of interaction between different types of values in the semantic structure of the word. The article deals with the development and functioning of postpositions and prefixes to express certain values. The present investigation is meant to determine the means of typical English sense expressions of verbal prefixes. Former similar in English have become independent words as a result of restructuring the verb system. The English language has lost its system of Germanic prefixes in the course of functioning and development in the English history, especially after the Conuest of England by the Normans in 1066. Verbs with prefixes fell out of use in the course of the history of the English language. They are often repeated and form a category which has acuired the name of «preposition» in the system of the language. The prefixes identical to prepositions are assumed in dictionaries to be the same in meaning and functions, the difference, however, is not stated. The latter in various combinations are often assumed as the different meaning of the preposition. The prefixes of Roman origin are mostly obsolete and merge with verbs to function in special senses, their root verbs normally do not function separately.
