Diagnóstico da conservação do acervo coleção teses e dissertações da Biblioteca Central da UFSM

Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the conservation state of Theses and Dissertations Collection at the Conde de Porto Alegre Central Library at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in order to verify the conditions of the facility and the and materials used in the collection room and the storage place. The methodological procedure for the gathering of data was a visit to the site, preparation of questionnaires and interviews with the employees of the unit, and finally the data analysis. It was found that the current state of the building has problems with the sealing of the windows, making it an inappropriate storage place, but the transfer of this collection to the Central Library annex, which is in its final construction phase, should minimize some current structural problems as long as some plans, priorities and alternatives are established, such as air conditioning.
