DIALOGUE WITH HISTORY OF THE RESEARCHER OF ANTIQUITY OF NOVOROSSIУSK UNIVERSITY – STRUVE FEDIR ARYSTOVYCH

Abstract
The main subject of article – consideration of scientific and pedagogical activity of ordinary professor of Imperial Novorossiуsk University, the expert of the Roman and Ancient Greek literature Fedir Struve. Object of research are Struve’s works and the information sources, which are stored in funds of Scientific Library of Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University and based of scientific activity of the scientist is investigated the Odessa period. Professor Struve has made a considerable contribution to development of science, and his scientific and scientific-pedagogical works have not lost the relevance. Historians, experts in antique history use them when writing the works. There are still traditions of studying of Latin and Ancient Greek language by the address in Greek- Roman sources and research of antique history of Northern Black Sea Coast, begun in Novorossiуsk University by the outstanding scientist Fedir Struve at the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University. The funds of the Scientific Library preserved many Latin and Greek editions, which are in demand by students and scientists of our time. Results of research have practical value for historians, specialists in museum management and for all who are interested in history of Novorossiуsk University and studying of antiquity.
