Journal Title: Prohominum - Year 2021, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

The teacher's role in teaching mathematics is of vital importance, since the student's interest and pleasure in the subject will depend on him/her, through the innovative and creative strategies that he/she applies and that generate a positive attitude towards it, since, due to habit, prejudice, or predisposition, they have always had a rejection of mathematics, generating frustration and anxiety in some of them. In Peru, the results of mathematics assessments at the primary level, at the international, national and regional levels, have reflected an incipient progress, and there is still much room for improvement; that is, more attention should be paid to this area, which is based on the development of mathematical competencies through mathematical problem solving. In this sense, the purpose of this research was to analyze the JUMAT program to improve the development of mathematical competencies in fifth grade elementary school students at I.E. N° 14646 in the district of Morropón.
