Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of creating the situation of success in working with mentally retarded children. Problem of stimulating pupils to the activity and achievement of success in educational process is widely represented in general pedagogy and psychology. However, analysis of literature sources has shown insufficient research of the problem in correctional pedagogy where only some aspects are being considered by the scientists. This called forth researching of the conditions of creating the situation of success in working with mentally retarded pupils of junior classes. Creating a situation of success involved taking account of individual psychological characteristics of pupils, describing their attitude to success, the essence of which is grounded in the article. Following types of attitude to success of mentally retarded pupils are presented. Results of the study showed lack of formation of a positive attitude to success concerning mentally retarded pupils. It confirmed the need for developing of conditions for creating the situation of success, one of which is to provide differentiated assistance to pupils in the process of their independent work. To implement this condition the methods of creating situations of success were adapted to the types of attitude to pupils’ success. An algorithm for using methods of creating the situation of success to provide differentiated assistance for pupils with different types of attitude to success was developed and presented. The results of the application demonstrated positive changes in creating attitudes to success of mentally retarded pupils. Effectiveness of the differentiated assistance to the pupils in the process of independent work is proved. Reasonable necessity of an integral influence on pupils that provides for introduction of other forms and methods of work representing the pedagogical conditions for creation a situation of success in educational activity is proved.
