Digitalizacja zbiorów specjalnych Biblioteki Śląskiej

Abstract
This article presents the Silesian Library’s experience of the digitalization of special collections and describes used solutions and working methods. It shows the most important stages of digitalization of old books, manuscripts, iconographic and cartographic documents, as well as ephemera texts. It describes the fi rst attempts carried out in 2003-2006, the establishment of the Silesian Digital Library in 2006, project called the Silesian Internet Library Historical Collection (implemented in 2008-2012) and recent activities of the Library in digitalization (f.ex. digital library for internal use only). Also the rules of making electronic resource collections, criteria for the selection of objects and means of access to them were discussed. Moreover, the article shows the most interesting digitalized collections selected from the Special Collections of the Silesian Library.
