Distance learning as an innovative form of education

Abstract
The article deals with the problem of distance learning as an innovative form of education. It has been emphasized by the author that distance learning allows expanding the student contingent without the noticeable increase in the teaching staff and the increase of educational process’ maintenance costs. The theoretical reflection of this process lays in the basis of the idea of the American model of global virtual university. Virtual university prepares staff for virtual society, that’s why it steps back from the specific situation on the labor markets, but potentially enables to carry out selection of students, allowing selection of the most capable ones. In contrast to this ideological and psychological approach, grounded by pragmatic ideas, the European tradition seeks to modernize the costly model of the higher education, which is now being criticized more and more often. Describing the socio-role peculiarities of such communication, it has been emphasized by the author that distance learning allows bringing an element of easy communication and relax in relations between a teacher and a student. Within it, some cultural and psychological problems are solved along with didactic tasks. The audience in cyberspace is seen as safety learning space by most listeners. There they can get the emotional support; students are not afraid of making mistakes, being non-educated or insufficiently erudited. The high degree of teacher’s tolerance here is not so much personal, but an objective positive characteristic, which is understood by students as the emotionally colored one. In such way additional reserves of the distance learning are created: the identification of the teacher with the course content, the increase of self-esteem and self-confidence feelings among students who get such important social skills like self-control, control of their own intellectual development, the learning process structuring and so on.
