Diversification as basis of improving environmental and economic efficiency according to the concept of sustainable development of coal regions

Abstract
The article is devoted to the actual problems of ecological and economic efficiency according to the concept of sustainable development of coal regions. Enterprises should strive to ensure economic efficiency and also pay considerable attention to the tasks of resource conservation and environmental quality protection. The main economic and environmental problems of coal enterprises are considered and their impact on the ecological and social situation of the territories of their location is revealed. The article is aimed at studying and developing measures of ecological-economic efficiency of coal industry enterprises in using secondary resources. It was stated that the majority of the State-owned coal mining enterprises are unprofitable. The reasons for this are high cost of production, reduction of coal production, outdated mine fund, prices for sold coal, which are much lower than the self-cost. It is noted that despite the decrease in coal production, the economic activity of coal mining enterprises has a significant negative impact on the environment. It is determined that one of the most important factors of sustainable development is diversifica-tion, which provides for the processing and utilization of resources of coal deposits and man-made deposits of coal waste. Environ-mental and economic measures that will almost completely eliminate the external accumulated waste and expand the range of pro-ducts, through the sale and processing of extracted resources has been proposed here. These measures include is making of bio-coal briquettes, disposing of waste heaps, using of coal mine methane, energy technological processing of fuel, manufacturing of sorbents and adsorbents, making of humates. Diversification measures will create favorable conditions for the socio-economic development of coal regions, increase the efficiency of coal enterprises, employment, the level and quality of life of the population, the rational use of natural resources and improve the environmental situation.
