Diversification of the private investor’s investment portfolio as a way to reduce its riskiness

Abstract
Each investor is searching for the best investment assets constantly. It helps him to get the most revenue, to diversify investment portfolios, minimize risks and increase return on investment. However, alternative investment in the stock and currency exchanges, the Internet, in the banking sector is quite risky and requires the investor to have the relevant knowledge, skills and experience. The article examines various investment assets that serve as a means of diversifying the investment portfolio in order to reduce its risk profile. Within the research, the author focuses on investments in precious metals, real estate, bank deposits, foreign currency, securities, online investments. The advantages, drawbacks and peculiarities of investments by individuals in these investment assets are explored. Particular emphasis is placed on investing in precious metals, especially in gold. The paper discusses various instruments for investing in gold: purchasing ingots, coins and jewelry, investing in metal accounts and WebMoney. Conclusions: Considered ways of investing should be considered only as long–term investments, the terms of which are more than ten years; еach species has its own degree of risk and profitability; the market for non–traditional forms of investment in Ukraine is only developing.
