Abstract
Ilgi Sembos pylimai, žinomi iš įvairių šaltinių, beveik nesulaukė archeologų dėmesio. Sembos pylimai skirstomi į dvi grupes: pylimai pusiasalio pakraščiuose, žinomi iš archeologinių stebėjimų, ir pylimai sausumos gilumoje, žinomi tik iš rašytinių šaltinių. Gali būti, kad pylimai atliko ne tiek karinę, kiek kulto ir administracinę funkciją, ribodami kanalų eksteritorialumą ir saugodami nuolat čia plaukiojančius svetimšalių laivus nuo prūsų genties teritorijos, kurios įstatymų laivininkai ir prekybininkai nesilaikė
