Do preventive strategies applied by the Municipal Centre for Children and Youth ‘Ochronka’ in Bochnia help pupils to deal with risky behaviours?

Abstract
The weakening of family functions and the increase of risky and pathological behaviours are the effects of social development. The institutions of aid and prevention undertake the counteraction to this negative phenomena by supporting inefficient families. Different aid programmes are targeted at children and young people from high risk groups. Daily support institutions are considerably autonomic and so they can adapt the strategy and action programs to the environmental conditions that take into account the actual state of emergency. MCDiM ‘Ochronka’ is a day-care centre which conducts activities aimed at prevention of risky behaviours using selected leading and complementary strategies. The article is an attempt to find an answer to the question: What is the effectiveness of strategies applied in the prevention of risky behaviours? The answers to this problem were sought by diagnosing the effectiveness of particular strategies applied in the ‘Ochronka’ Municipal Centre for Children and Youth in Bochnia. The research was carried out on a group of 185 pupils, parents and teachers, using the following techniques: questionnaires, interviews, observations and document analysis.
