Abstract
The article investigates the little-known literary-critical legacy of Yuri Kosach. It`s chronological and genre classification is proposed. According to the way of life and creative path of literary critic, the main periods of his literary-critical activity are outlined. It was emphasized that the relevance of the study is due to almost complete neglect of non-artisticYuri Kosach's prose in contemporary research and insufficient attention to genre nature of essay in Ukrainian literary criticism. Considerable attention is paid to the contemporary appropriate study of literary criticism by Yuri Kosach. On the basis of the analysis of scientific studies by Solomiy Pavlychko, R. Radishevsky, G.Grabovich, Y.Polischuk, M.Ilnitsky, S.Romanov, an attempt is made to chronologically systematize and genre classification of literary-critical heritage of Yuri Kosach.Attention is drawn to the fact that the essay by Yuri Kosach is a complex reflection of the literary concepts of the writer, his ideological and ideological struggles, aesthetic orientations, manifestations of change and fluctuations in his personal priorities. It is revealed that his literary-critical legacy is subjected to a clear differentiation within the three periods of his work.
