Dynamic Analyses and Seismic Behavior of Masonry Minarets with single Balcony
Journal Title: Aksaray University Journal of Science and Engineering - Year 2018, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
Minarets are built adjacent to mosques and used for calling Muslims to mosques for pray. Almost all masonry minarets in Turkey and similar Muslim countries have been damaged due to medium intensity seismic actions or at least moderate winds. One of the reasons for this is that these structures are thin and long. Another reason is that the minarets built without any engineering knowledge today. In this study, 7 masonry minarets with single balcony, located in the city center of Aksaray (middle Anatolia), are investigated in terms of seismic behaviors. The mentioned minarets were geometrically measured using photogrammetric devices and techniques. Measured minarets were modeled using Finite Element Method with LUSAS Software, and seismic analyses were performed. Structural analyzes are compared with each other and the results obtained are interpreted.

A Note on Modified Pell Polynomials
In this paper, we study the modified Pell polynomials. We first give the proof of the generating function of these polynomials. We then give the proof of the Binet formula for the modified Pell polynomials, which gives t...
Research of Required Qualifications for Baby Clothes from Past to Present
Clothing fabrics go through a series of stages before production stage. Many processes such as bleaching, dyeing, etc. are made with various chemicals. These chemicals must finally be removed from the product by washing....
Thin-Layer Drying Characteristics of Microwave-Dried Radix Eremut (Eremurus Spectabilis)
The drying characteristics of radix eremut (Eremurus spectabilis) were investigated using microwave drying method. The drying curves of radix eremut locate in the falling rate regime and time required for drying reduced...
An investigation on the soil stabilization with waste tyres materials in granular soils
The aim of this investigation is to research the improvement of sandy soils with additive materials. California Bearing Ratio (CBR) is commonly used to determine the characteristics of sandy soils which are improved by u...
Investigation of High Temperature Effects on Concrete Additive Antifreeze
The purpose of this work is to determine the effect of the antifreeze additive on the behavior of the concrete under high temperature. For this purpose, two different types of C20 class concrete were produced with refer...
