Dynamic Analysis and Parametric Optimisation of the Connecting Rod Using Autodesk Inventor
Journal Title: Machine Design - Year 2017, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper presents a case study on optimising a connecting rod, component of a spark-ignition engine, in order to minimise its weight and lower the inertia forces. For this purpose, we use the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016 (AIP2016) software containing tools that enable either the dynamic analysis to determine the reactions of the connecting rod joints or the finite element analysis for optimising the connecting rod. The result of the optimisation is a lighter and slimmer connecting rod, which implies smaller inertial forces and reduced engine weight, resistant to the stresses subjecting it and ensuring safe operation.

Cutting Force Prediction for Three Types of Cutting Materials and Lathe Tool Holders
In this study the machining cutting forces is analysed. Experimental measurements are performed on the three types of the cutting tools and lathe tool holders in order to collect the experimental data. The method of ANFI...
Hydraulic Analysis of the Water Supply System in Town Nevesinje
The water supply network is an essential part of water supply system. It has a task to provide distribution of necessary quantities of water under appropriate pressure from the source to each consumer while keeping the p...
Rubbing Fastness Properties of Ink Jet Prints on Plastic Materials
During exploitation, plastic materials printed with ink jet printing technique are quite often exposed to various influences (rubbing, heat, UV radiation, moisture, washing, etc.). Those influences can affect the quality...
Maintenance of Axial Bearing of Kaplan Turbine
Axial slide bearing of vertical Kaplan turbines is main bearing element supporting up to several hundreds tones of turbine elements self weights and water column. Because if that, exact assembling and maintenance is of v...
Vibration Analysis of a Generator Anti-Vibration Rubber Mounts
The aim of this paper is to measure the stresses developed in the anti-vibration rubber mounts of a generator which are result from vibration of a generator at duty cycle. This done by measuring the acceleration of the e...
