EAP Syllabus and Course Design

Abstract
A Syllabus is “a specification of what is to be included in a language course” (Jordan, 1997). This study aims to review the issues involved in EAP syllabus and course design, such as the steps in designing a syllabus, types of syllabus, different ways of defining a syllabus (i.e., the evaluation syllabus, the organizational syllabus, the materials syllabus, the teacher syllabus, the classroom syllabus, the learner syllabus, and the evaluation syllabus),the reasons for having a syllabus, dangers for having a syllabus,criteria and types of EAP syllabus, and constraints or variables of EAP course design.
