ECOLOGICAL INVESTMENTS: ESSENCE AND TYPES

Abstract
The article examines the works of domestic and foreign scientists regarding the interpretation of the essence of the economic categories «investment» and «environmental investment». The main approaches to the interpretation of the category of «investment» are highlighted and the need for an integrated combination of the selected approaches to clarify its essence is proved. A review of the author's positions regarding the interpretation of the economic category of «environmental investment» has been conducted and two approaches have been highlighted: environmental and preventive. It is proved that in the modern economic literature the interpretation of the term «environmental investment» is rather narrow or erroneous. On the basis of summarizing the views of many researchers, an attempt was made to determine the essence of the category «environmental investments». Researched the works of scientists on the classification of environmental investments. The necessity of identifying the essential features and objectives of environmental investments, investment objects and sources of funds in order to improve their classification is established.
