Ecological irrigational assessment of surface water quality of the sasyk reservoir

Abstract
In the article the results of the ecological irrigational assessment of surface water quality of the Sasyk Reservoir in 1995 ... 2015 are presented by various principles: integrated ecological assessment of water quality based on the determination of the pollution coefficients; assessment of surface water quality indicators for regulatory requirements for different types of water use; irrigation assessment of water quality. It has been established by the research that the ecological state of the surface waters of the Sasyk Reservoir is estimated according to the level of contamination from «slightly polluted» to «moderately polluted». According to the content of the main controlled hydro chemical indicators, the water of the Sasyk Reservoir did not meet the regulatory requirements for household drinking, cultural- domestic and water use for fishery throughout the whole research period. Based on the results of the conducted irrigation assessment, the water of the researched water body is described as «unsuitable» for irrigation because of the danger of sodium and magnesium alkalization of soils, «partially applicable» for irrigation because of the risk of the secondary salinization and alkalization of soils, and also the danger of toxic effects on plants. For renewal of ecologically safe soil watering of the Danube-Dniester irrigation system it is recommended to replace the source of irrigation by the design and stage-by-stage construction of a complex of water-supplying hydraulic structures for the direct supply of the Danube water to the Danube-Dniester irrigation system without the use of the Sasyk Reservoir in this water resources utilization system. Due to the fact that the ecological state in the basin of the Sasyk Reservoir remains strained and unstable, it is recommended to continue carrying out of ecological monitoring of surface waters.
