ECONOMIC ACTIVITY AND CONNECTION WITH MARKET OF FARMS LOCATED IN CITIES AND THEIR FUNCTIONAL AREAS

Abstract
The aim of this research was an evaluation of diversity of an economic activity of individual farms in relation to their location with respect to big markets (of provincial cities). The analysis touched upon Polish provincial cities and their functional areas. The conducted research showed that farms located in cities and surrounding areas are strongly connected with market, and more often than on average in Poland they lead a non-agricultural economic activity and a greater percentage of households obtain their income from nonagricultural activity. It has also been noticed that chosen characterizations of an economic activity of farms are strongly dependent upon their location with respect to big markets (cities). The further the farm is located from the city, the weaker the connection with the market and the smaller the significance of non-agricultural incomes.<br/><br/>
