ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY OF SPRING BARLEY WITH DIFFERENT LEVEL OF INTENSITY

Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare production and economic outcomes of using different production technologies of spring barley grown in crop rotation. The research was based on the results of field experiments carried out in the years of 2008-2010, in the Experimental Station of IUNG-PIB in Osiny, Poland (510 28’ N; 220 04’ E). The effect of the research was to determine the indicators of economic efficiency of spring barley depending on the production technology used. It was found that the level of technology intensity, determined by the costs incurred for the means of production, influenced the structure of direct costs and the profitability of barley production. Economic technology without using growth retardants, with a reduced fungicide protection and mineral fertilization was the most cost-effective. From the financial point of view, economic technology was better than the intensive or integrated ones, but it was worse in terms grain yields.
