Economic intelligence or economic espionage: what are the fundamental differences between these two methodologies?

Abstract

Information has become a valuable strategic resource that is very important for the company, as it allows it to master the constant changes in its environment, improve its competitiveness, and ensure its stability and sustainability for as long as possible. . As a result, the purpose of this paper will be to deal with two essential but totally contradictory notions for obtaining and using information; that of economic intelligence, and economic espionage. To better address our research topic we will adopt the descriptive and analytical method, based on a review of the EI literature and economic espionage to highlight the fundamental differences between these two methodologies. This presentation will be based on three main parts; the first will focus on the concept of Economic Intelligence, the second will focus on the concept of economic espionage, while the third will address the fundamental differences between these two methodologies.
