Economies under Globalization – toward Constructive Criticism

Abstract
The globalization processes taking place in world economy have brought both positive and negative effects in a number of key aspects: economic, political, sociological, and cultural. Some perceive that the neoliberal strand in economic theory, underpinning globalization seen as a stage in the evolution of capitalism, is characterized by contradictions that provoke conflicts and cause dissatisfaction in many societies, notably in less developed countries. Having identified these contradictions, we might be able to propose a new paradigm of economic thought in the hope of giving a different quality to the development of modern societies. It seems that new and critically fruitful insights into globalization can only arise from a new theoretical perspective that transcends economics as such and incorporates sociological, political, psychological and ethical outlooks. The paper sets out to provide such a broader outlook in exploring globalization issues and to lay foundations for a constructive criticism of the capitalism of today.
