Effect of classic and atypical neuroleptics on cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) in rat liver.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2012, Vol 64, Issue 6
Abstract
BACKGROUNd: Cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) subfamily is involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics (e.g., drugs) and endogenous substances (e.g., steroids). The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of classic and atypical neuroleptics on the level and activity of CYP3A in rat liver, measured as a rate of testosterone 2β- and 6β-hydroxylation.

Effect of quercetin on experimental hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis in rabbits.
Cardiovascular disease is currently the leading cause of death in the West, and a search for factors limiting its occurrence is ongoing. Accumulated data indicate that quercetin, the major flavonol in the plant kingdom,...
Expression of genes involved in xenobiotic metabolism and transport in end-stage liver disease: up-regulation of ABCC4 and CYP1B1.
Background: Expression of drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters in liver is mainly regulated by a system of nuclear receptors. The aim of the current study was to investigate the expression of nuclear receptors...
Pinealectomy aggravates acute pancreatitis in the rat.
Melatonin, a pineal indoleamine, protects the pancreas against acute damage; however, the involvement of the pineal gland in the pancreatoprotective action of melatonin is unknown. The primary aim of this study was to de...
Involvement of kainate receptors in the analgesic but not hypnotic effects induced by inhalation anesthetics.
In the present study, the role of kainate (KA) receptors in hypnosis and analgesia induced by emulsified inhalation anesthetics was investigated. A mouse model of hypnosis and analgesia was established by an intraperiton...
