Effect of hardening methods of moulding sands with water glass on structure of bonding bridges
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2010, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
Research on influence of hardening methods on structure of bonding bridges in moulding sands with sodium water glass is presented. Moulding sands with addition of 2.5 % of binder with molar module 2.0 were hardened with CO2 and dried in traditional way or hardened with microwaves. It was proved that the hardening method affects structure of bonding bridges, correlating with properties of the hardened moulding sands. It was found that strength of the moulding sands hardened with microwaves for 4 min is very close to that measured after traditional drying at 110 °C for 120 min. So, application of microwave hardening ensures significant shortening of the process time to the value comparable with CO2 hardening but guaranteeing over 10-fold increase of mechanical properties. Analysis of SEM images of hardened moulding sands permitted explaining differences in quality parameters of moulding sands by connecting them with structure of the created bonding bridges.

Ultralight magnesium-lithium alloys for plastic working
Various chemical compositions of ultralight magnesium-lithium alloys were examined and metallographic studies of these alloys, designed for further plastic working, were carried out. The preliminary results of mechanical...
Plastic properties of cold-deformed ironbased sintered materials
Cold plastic forming of sintered metal powders has limited practical application because of, among others, the deformation degree and initial porosity of preforms. Cold forming is combined with a very drastic drop of pla...
The influence of amperage of electric arc on microhardness in the area single and overlapping remeltings of HS 6-5-2 steel
The present thesis depicts the microhardness of HV0,065 surface layer of high speed steel HS6-5-2 remelted with the electric arc. There were different surface layer variants of remelting used – the amperage was changed f...
Influence of supply voltage frequency of induction coil on inoculation efficiency of pure aluminium structure

Constrained/unconstrained solidification within the massive cast steel/iron ingots
Some properties of the ingot and especially of the steel forging ingots depend on the ratio of a columnar structure area to an equiaxed structure area created during solidification. The CE transition is fundamental phe...
