Effect of hypoglycemia fear on anxiety in diabetic patients with hypoglycemia

Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of hypoglycemia fear on anxiety in diabetic patients with hypoglycemia, and test the regulating effect of psychological resilience. Methods A total of 167 diabetic patients with hypoglycemia were investigated by general information questionnaire, hypoglycemia fear survey, psychological resilience scale, and anxiety scale. Results ①Different living conditions, duration of diabetes, previous occurrence of hypoglycemia, monthly household income per capita, and number of exercises per week had statistically significant differences in anxiety status of diabetic patients with hypoglycemia (P < 0. 05, P < 0. 01); ②Pearson correlation analysis showed that anxiety in diabetic patients with hypoglycemia was positively correlated with hypoglycemia fear, and negatively correlated with psychological resilience (P < 0. 05, P < 0. 01); ③Adjustment analysis showed that the second-order interaction between hypoglycemia fear and psychological resilience had a significant impact (P < 0. 01). For every increase of one standard deviation of psychological resilience, the standardized regression coefficient of hypoglycemia fear on anxiety would decrease by 0. 256. Conclusion Nursing staff should actively pay attention to the psychological status of diabetic patients with hypoglycemia, do a good job in psychological care and psychological construction, and help patients give full play to the buffering effect of psychological resilience in the effect of hypoglycemia on anxiety.
