Effect of Microwave Irradiation on Rock Impact Resistance

Journal Title: 河南科技大学学报(自然科学版) - Year 2016, Vol 37, Issue 1

Abstract

Based on drop impact test of granite and yellow sandstone, the decline law of rock impact resistance after microwave irradiation was studied. The relations between tha rock impact resistance and microwave power level under the same irradition time were analyzed. The experimental results show that the bigger the microwave power is,the more the rock impact resistance reduces under the equal microwave irradiation time, and the speed of impact resistance degradation is fast at first and slow down later. The greatest drop in rock impact resistance of granite and yellow sandstone is 8 k W and 4 k W respectively. The reason for reduce of different rock impact resistance by microwave irradiation is the different expansion deformation of the different mineral composition, which results in micro crack expansion to rock crushing and loss of shock resistance.
