Effects of Monoammonium Glycyrrhizinate on Kidney Function of Laying Hens

Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of monoammonium glycyrrhizinate ( MAG) on kidney function in laying hens, a total of 60 Hy-line brown laying hens at the age of 320 days were randomly divided into 5 groups.MAG in drinking-water level of 0 mg/L, 25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 100 mg/L and 200 mg/L were added, respectively. Feed and water were provided for ad libitum consumption, continuous feeding for 21 days. The kidney index, serum antioxidant index, serum urea nitrogen ( BUN) , creatinine ( CREA) and uric acid ( UA) were measured at the end of the experiment. Hematoxylin and eosin ( HE) staining, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase d UTP nick end labeling ( TUNEL) staining was done for kidney histopathological observation. The results show that compared with the control group, the kidney index, serum BUN and malondialdehyde ( MDA) of the MAG group are not significantly different ( P > 0. 05) . The activity of superoxide dismutase ( T-SOD) is significantly increased ( P<0.05) .The concentrations of CREA and UA are decreased obviously ( P<0.05) .The pathological changes of kidney tissue of laying hens in the 25 mg/L are significantly reduced.
