Effects of planting density on yield traits and growth of indica rice NF11, aerect panicle type

Journal Title: 广东农业科学 - Year 2018, Vol 45, Issue 8

Abstract

"In order to investigate the differences of yield and yield traits of indica rice in erect panicle type under different planting densities, and provide a theoretical basis for the production of indica rice in erect panicle type with the highest efficiency in the use of the environment and other resources, five cultivars with different planting densities (0.23 m×0.12 m, 0.27 m×0.14 m, 0.33 m×0.17 m, 0.38 m×0.20 m, 0.40 m ×0.21 m) were selected with erect panicle indica rice (NF11), and curved panicle rice (N11) was taken as a control. The results indicated that different densities had effects on the yield and yield traits of indica rice in erect panicle type. The yield traits of different panicle type indica rice have different contribution to yield under different cultivation densities. The total grain number had a great influence on the yield of the curved panicle type indica rice, and the 1000-grain weight had a greater effect on the yield of erect panicle type indica rice. What’s more, the two materials produced the highest yield at the density of 0.27 m×0.14 m, and the yield of the curved panicle type indica rice was greater than that of the erect panicle as the density decreasing. With the change of planting densities, the agronomic traits and the incidence of sheath blight had no significant effect on the yield of curved panicle type indica rice, but plant height and sheath blight had significant effects on erect panicle type indica rice. It can be seen that, although the yield had similar trends of the two panicle type indica rice as the planting density decreasing, the performance of yield traits and growth related indicators differs. It was concluded that the erect panicle rice can influence yield by regulating its own plant type, and the sensitivity of the erect panicle rice to the change of density was weaker than that of the curved panicle indica rice. The selection of cultivation density should be considered in combination with the practical application of production environment."
