EFFICIENCY OF L-CARNITINE ADMINISTRATION IN COMPLEX TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE

Abstract
Th e results of L-carnitine effi ciency in the treatment of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease are presented in the article. Cytolysis, cholestasis and intoxication indicators within two weeks of treatment were more eff ectively corrected in the pa-tients, who in addition to standard treatment had been administered L-carnitine. Signifi cant reduction of tumor necrosis factor-α and leptin levels together with increased adiponectin plasma concentration were also noted in this group of patients. More effective correction of cytolytic, cholestatic and intoxication syndromes combined with normalization of cytokine and adypokine profi les manifested by faster regression of clinical manifestations of the disease were typical for young patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease compared with mature and elderly patients.
