Abstract
The skill of ECG interpretation in paediatrics requires the knowledge of the basics of electrophysiology and of ECG changes that occur along the development of a child. ECG assessment in paediatric resuscitation consists in reviewing 6 basic diagnostic problems: 1. frequency and regularity of rhythm as compared with norms appropriate for a child’s age; 2. heart rhythm; 3. conduction disorders; 4. heart electric axis according to the age of a child; 5. hypertrophy of the chambers of the heart and 6. myocardial infarction. Despite a tremendous progress in diagnostic methods, ECG continues to be a primary diagnostic tool in cardiovascular diseases.
