Postępowanie w ostrych stanach hiperglikemicznych
Journal Title: Na Ratunek - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease currently defined by the World Health Organization as a disease of affluence. Hyperglycaemia that is caused by the deficiency or absence of insulin may lead to life-threatening conditions. The complications of hyperglycaemia are: diabetic ketoacidosis (mortality 0.2%-2%), hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state (mortality about 15%) as well as lactic acidosis (mortality about 50%). The treatment includes securing vital bodily functions, proper diagnosing and monitoring a patient’s condition, decreasing hyperglycaemia, hydrating the patient and restoring electrolyte balance.
