Journal Title: Alquipir - Year 2021, Vol 14, Issue 1
Abstract
The snow has been a key element in the medicinal practices of the villages, as well as in other less serious menestres, it is a known thing, very especially from the verification of the very numerous snow wells that have been in use until the middle of the XIX century and even later, and that have begun to be catalogued in the last quarter of century. The snow well of the Sierra de Burete was already presented in 1984. What we present here and that we have been finding later is a whole set of variations of great interest to better understand the daily life of the people on issues that even a few years ago we could not even imagine. We will talk about the lexicon on the subject of snow, the snow pits and their ownership, the families and jobs associated with them… and other topics of the economic history of the trade and exploitation of snow, as well as using chronological documentation
