Electricity Generation Reliability in a Power System Including Renewable Energy Sources
Journal Title: Acta Energetica - Year 2016, Vol 26, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper presents methods of including renewable energy sources in power system reliability analyses. The focus is on solar power plants. A method of primary energy availability modelling for such sources was proposed. Methods of including solar power plants in power system reliability calculations are presented. The impact of new photovoltaic sources on electricity generation reliability in an IEEE RTS-79 test system was examined. The Capacity Credit was de-termined for these plants, owing to which their capability to cover load was examined.

Types of Risks in the Process of Investing in Renewable Electric Energy Sources
The development of renewable power engineering is inevitable. Administrative, financial, political, social, environmental or technical/technological barriers are and must be minimized. They determine the scale of risk bo...
Evaluation of the Complementarity of Wind Energy Resources, Solar Radiation and Flowing Water – a Case Study of Piła
The paper analyses the complementarity of electrical energy yield, using a multiannual, monthly and daily approach, for a small hydroelectric power station, wind turbine and photovoltaic plant. The results obtained point...
An Nonconventional Power Swing Blocking Solution for Power Unit’s Under-impedance Protections
The paper discusses the problem of malfunctioning of under-impedance protections of power units and conventional power swing blocking solutions for these protections during power swings. Typical solutions of under-impeda...
The Method of Multi-criteria Analysis to Support the Decision on Load or Micro-generation Connection to a Low- or Medium-voltage Power Grid
This paper presents a method that supports the decision in terms on selecting the best option of a load connection to a low- or medium-voltage power distribution grid, and of a micro-generation source connection to a low...
