ELECTRON DENSITY IN THE F1 LAYER OVER NORILSK IN 2007–2014
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2019, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
We report the results of the analysis of annual variations in daily electron density (N) for various solar activity conditions — minimum, rise, and maximum (2007–2014) — obtained from digisonde measurements at the ionospheric station Norilsk (69.4° N, 88.1° E). New coefficients of the known semi-empirical model (SEM) describing the connection between N and thermosphere characteristics are calculated to identify regularities of these variations exactly at Norilsk station. The height changes of annual variations in the noon electron density N are obtained in the F1 region (120–200 km). The experimental data approximation describes N quite satisfactorily at these heights in the daytime of different seasons under different solar activity conditions. It is shown that in the years of solar minimum at all heights of the F1 layer the tendency remains for maximum N in summer and for minimum N in winter. In later years and in the year of maximum solar activity, a characteristic feature of the behavior of N is the change in the phase of the annual variation by 180° in the range of heights from 170 to180 km: maximum N is observed in winter; and minimum, in summer.

STUDYING AURORAL ACTIVITY USING THE SME INDEX AT THE MAGNETIC STORM MAIN PHASE DURING CIR AND ICME EVENTS
In this paper, we examine the relationship of the SME index with magnetic storm characteristics and interplanetary medium parameters during the main phase of magnetic storms caused by CIR and ICME events. Over the period...
Statistical analysis of microflares as observed by the 4–8 GHz spectropolarimeter
Radio observations of weak events are one of the promising methods for studying energy release and non-thermal processes in the solar corona. The development of instrumental capabilities allows for radio observations of...
COLOR AND SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LONG-LIVED METEOR TRAIL FORMED BY THE TUNKA BOLIDE
The paper addresses color characteristics and possible spectral composition of emission of a long-lived (~40 min) meteor trail of uncommon geometry, which was formed due to the bolide passage in the Tunka Valley on Novem...
MICROWAVE INDICATOR OF POTENTIAL GEOEFFECTIVENESS AND MAGNETIC FLUX-ROPE STRUCTURE OF A SOLAR ACTIVE REGION
We analyze the presence of a microwave neutral-line-associated source (NLS) in a super-active region NOAA 12673, which produced a number of geo-effective events in September 2017. To estimate the NLS position, we use dat...
ALFVÉN WAVES IN THE MAGNETOSPHERE GENERATED BY SHOCK WAVE/PLASMAPAUSE INTERACTION
We study Alfvén waves generated in the magnetosphere during the passage of an interplanetary shock wave. After shock wave passage, the oscillations with typical Alfvén wave dispersion have been detected in spacecraft obs...
