ELECTRONIC EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM MOODLE AS A MEANS OF ORGANIZATION OF STUDENTSʼ INDEPENDENT WORK ON LEARNING ENGLISH

Abstract

The article analyzes the possibility of using the e-learning platform MOODLE in the organization of the studentsʼ independent work on learning English. The author examines the possibilities of MOODLE to provide the access to educational resources, network interaction among participants of the educational process and control of the results, shows how to adapt it to the peculiarities of the educational process in the Flight academy. In the article the author deals with the issue of efficiency of using e-learning platform MOODLE in organization of the studentsʼ independent work on learning English in order to ensure the control of studentsʼ knowledge in the theoretical and practical aspects. Besides, the article demonstrates the benefits of the distance educational resource MOODLE. It gives the criteria for arranging educational material for the studentsʼ independent work. MOODLE is an effective way to increase motivation with the students to get professional skills on their own in order to be ready to pass the ICAO level exam perfectly well. As modern aviation specialists have to meet increasing requirements, innovative computer technologies should become the integral part of the training process. The creative approach to arranging independent work inspires the students to learn how to realize own potential, how to demonstrate own abilities, creativeness, independence. E-learning platform MOODLE, which is rich in various audio-, video- and other digital resources, is able to widen communicative competences and skills, which are required for effective mastering of the professionally-oriented English language. It stimulates with the students the desire to study better, encourages the responsibility for the educational process and puts the students in equal conditions while learning the material and passing the tests. The results of the tests could be received quickly and easily. The analysis of the tests could be used for determination of the difficulties in the learning process in order to improve the level of the English language proficiency.
