ELECTROREDUCTION OF TUNGSTEN COMPLEXES AND TUNGSTEN ELECTROREDUCTION IN CHLORIDE MELT

Abstract

The mechanism of K3W2Cl9 electroreduction in equimolar KCl-NaCl melt was studied by cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry and potentiostatic electrolysis methods. Electroreduction is realized in two stages, complicated by disproportional reaction W2 6+/ W3+. Diffusion coefficients, numbers of transfer and numbers of electrons which take part in different stages of process were calculated. Tungsten electroreduction on nonconductive materials from ionic melts was studied.
