Ellipsis as an instrument of expressiveness in modern English epistolary discourse

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of an expressive potential of elipsis in modern English epistolary discourse. Modern English novels written as a set of traditional letters and as a set of e-mails have been analyzed. Peculiarities of usual and occasional ellipses together with the explication of their expressive function have been described.
