Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 11
Abstract
This study investigates the topic of dual nationality. Its aim is to clarify the aspects and nature of dual nationality as well as the effects it might have on the international community. After investigating and explaining the nature of nationality and dual nationality from a legal perspective, the problems caused by this phenomenon and solutions to those problems are dealt with. Finally, it is attempted to investigate dual nationality from the viewpoint of Iranian laws. In the end, we reach to the conclusion that dual nationality has been neglected in the laws of many countries including Iran in which there is not any mention of the concept and law-makers remain silent in this regard. This silence implicates that the concept of dual nationality is not accepted by the Iranian law-makers. It seems that the most important way to solve this problem is to avoid adopting a new nationality unless you are ready to lose the old one.
